More Than ABCs & 123s: Learning at NAPS

Structured Learning. Certified Leadership. Proven Results.

When you think about preschool, you may think about learning letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. And while those skills are important, preschool is about so much more!

At New Adventures Preschool, Inc., our curriculum gives children opportunities to learn through play, hands-on experiences, classroom routines, and activities designed for their age and stage of development.

So, what does learning at NAPS look like? Let’s take a peek!

Part 1

Circle Time

Circle time is an important part of our classroom day. It’s a time for our kiddos to come together as a group.

What you’ll see

  • Singing songs
  • Listening to stories
  • Talking about our weekly theme
  • Practicing letters and numbers
  • Discussing the calendar and weather
  • Fun learning activities

But there’s even more happening…

  • Listening
  • Taking turns
  • Participating in a group
  • Following directions
  • Building vocabulary
  • Expressing their ideas

Those are all important skills they’ll carry with them into kindergarten and beyond.

Part 2

Learning Through Stations

One of our favorite parts of the NAPS day is station time! Our classroom stations give children opportunities to learn in smaller groups through hands-on activities.

Depending on the lesson, you might find our kiddos:

  • Painting
  • Cutting
  • Gluing
  • Sorting
  • Counting
  • Practicing letters
  • Experimenting with science
  • Fine motor activities
  • Creating with play dough
  • Exploring sensory materials

Stations allow our teachers to take a learning concept and turn it into something children can touch, create, explore, and experience.

To our kiddos

it feels like fun.

To our teachers

we can see all the learning happening behind the scenes!

Part 3

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum helps guide what we’re teaching throughout the school year while still giving our teachers the flexibility to make learning fun, creative, and appropriate for their classroom.

Throughout the year, our children are introduced to:

  • Letters
  • Numbers
  • Colors
  • Shapes
  • Early Literacy
  • Math
  • Science
  • Art
  • Music
  • Fine Motor
  • Themed Learning

As children move through our NAPS classrooms, activities grow along with them. What learning looks like for one of our youngest Busy Bees will naturally look different from what it looks like for one of our Dragonfly Pre-K students.

That’s exactly how it should be!

Part 4

And Then There’s Play!

Play is an important part of our curriculum too.

When children build with blocks…they’re problem-solving.
When they play pretend…they’re developing language and imagination.
When they work on a puzzle…they’re practicing persistence.
When they play with friends…they’re learning communication, cooperation, and how to navigate relationships.

Even the everyday moments count

Even cleaning up, washing hands, eating together, putting away belongings, and transitioning from one activity to another help children develop independence and responsibility.

Part 5

Building the Whole Child

At NAPS, we’re not just preparing children to recognize letters, write their names, or count. We’re helping them learn how to:

  • Make friends
  • Communicate
  • Follow routines
  • Solve problems
  • Become independent
  • Try new things
  • Believe in themselves

Preschool should be filled with opportunities to play, create, explore, get messy, ask questions, laugh, make friends, and discover something new.

Because when you walk into a NAPS classroom and see children happily playing, creating, singing, or exploring…

you’re looking at learning in action.

And that’s what New Adventures are all about!
